Well define alarm and or distress, these followers of this ideology are offended by everything in the west apparently, pups used in adverts for the police, restaurant chains stopping selling alcohol and pork, democracy, women having rights, our rights.
Burning books any books is nothing but an excuse to attack us westerns and non believers, if you’ve read a book and decide to burn it there’s no harm done, the book has done its job and if you’ve learned from that book then it’s completed its task.
If it’s a valuable book then that’s a different matter and I know people will say it’s what it represents, first books then people or are we just brainwashed by that claim?
Do you dispose of newspapers, leaflets, brochures? They’re no different they convey messages, advice, etc but everyone well all sensible people read a book and take away all sorts of different meanings and lessons. Books only carry that message, what if you destroyed your ebook reader?

Jeff, I think you should read the Quran. You don't seem to be familiar with its highly offensive content which includes massacring all non-believers as a start. That is a "religion" whose books for which burning should be mandatory. I have no problem burning "Mein Kampf", "Das Kapital" and so many other "religious" books. This one is even more sinister.
Instead of one-man protests, how about staging a large protest to build a bonfire of Qurans?
