Pickup creates chaos during chase

“Brooklyn Park, MN (November 9, 2021) – At 09:55 a.m., Brooklyn Park police officers were dispatched to a 911 call from a citizen who had just observed their stolen construction trailer in the area of Highway 610 and Zane Avenue. The stolen trailer was being pulled by a blue-colored Ford truck. Responding officers located the stolen trailer and truck in the parking lot of Hy-Vee (9409 Zane Avenue). When officers attempted a traffic stop on the truck and trailer the driver fled from officers. Officers terminated the pursuit for the safety of community members who were in the parking lot.

The driver continued his reckless driving and drove out of the parking lot, through the grass, down the ditch, through the chain-link fence to escape onto Highway 610. The stolen trailer detached from the truck at this time. The vehicle then became entangled into 200-plus feet of chain-link fence that broke off and was dragging behind his truck while he fled East Highway 610 onto South Highway 252. Brooklyn Park officers reinitiated a pursuit of the vehicle because of the dangers posed by the 200 feet of chain-link fence dragging behind the fleeing vehicle. In the area of Highway 252 and 66th Avenue, the fleeing truck passed another vehicle and the chain-link fence hit the vehicle causing it to strike a traffic light pole.

During the accident the chain-link fence was dislodged from the fleeing truck. The fleeing truck was last seen on camera South Hwy 100 exiting France Ave. The truck is described as a Blue 2007 Ford F250 with Minnesota License MJW169 (photo attached). Vehicle was found to be stolen.

Officers returned to the accident scene and rendered first aid to the 75-year-old male driver who was the only occupant. Unfortunately, the driver passed away. Minnesota State Patrol and the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) are conducting the investigation into this incident. Any community members who have information about this incident or the whereabouts of the fleeing truck are asked to call the BCA or police.

  1. Update: According to a Google search on April 4th, 2024, they still haven't caught the guy. "In November 2021, the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) reported that a blue 2007 Ford F250 with Minnesota license plates MJW-169 was stolen and was causing a fatal crash in Brooklyn Center. The truck was last seen driving south on Highway 100. The truck was also seen dragging a chain-link fence behind it, hitting another vehicle and killing its driver. The BCA is asking for information about the truck and the driver, and to call 911 or the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension"

  2. That red car very much knows that he is going to have a car accident so he tries to get out of there fast but he was killed. 😞😞
did you guys catch that killer track person? 😟

  3. Some people are just entitled. The thief escalated the incident from theft to reckless endangerment and vehicular homicide. If he's not caught for this incident he'll be caught for something else.

  4. Wait – was the red car the one in the 'left turn lane'? The one who backed up from the intersection earlier? How did they hit the pole on the right hand side? Did they turn 'right' from the left hand lane in front of the chase?

  5. The driver of the stolen truck is probably congratulating himself on his escape. Unfortunately, people who do these sorts of thing have no regard for harm that they cause to others even if it costs someone their hard earned construction business or an innocent driver's life. His only regret will be that he wasn't able to keep the stolen trailer.

  6. Police held back by too many rules. Society will pay a big price as the lawlessness escalates. Dirty Harry would be listening to the chase on the radio and positioned himself ahead of it. KA BLOOM KA BLOOM KA BLOOM as those .44 rounds hit their target.
