  1. The jumper being there on active duty without permission is a problem. Anytime we chose to do activities that are high risk or carry the risk of injury you have to seek approval from command. Skydiving isn't an unusual activity and wouldn't be hard to get permission to do. If you dont get permission and are injured it's a problem. Your insurance, Tricare, can and will be revoked and all bills incurred will be paid by the member. Injuries that keep you off mobility status due to your own actions are cause for medical retirement without benefits and possible dishonarable discharge. If he has a good service record he will probably get an other that honorable which can be upgraded in 6 months. OR no one makes a fuss, he goes back to work, Tricare pays his bills, he rehabs and returns to duty. Given the publicity it's less doubtful the quiet path is taken. Not making a report is stupid. His command will know he is injured even without a report. Lack of a report would actually cause issues when insurance tries to follow up. Tricare is great insurance unless you dont follow the pretty basic rules. Do not try to do dangerous activities without command approval. 100% not worth it.

  2. At least this got tweeted with Patriot Parachute team tags lol
The guy asking for a report to not be filed feels like a crime – especially since they seem to be employees, hell of a workers comp

  3. Damn for having some pretty serious injuries the skydiver was pretty stoic through it all, must have a hell of a pain tolerance. Hope he's doing well nowadays.

  4. If its for a soldier then as a veteran i say they shouod jave the right to at least withhold their name and full image. Command will make you jump in the most crazy situations and with my own eyes i have seen soldiers break their necks and destroy their legs but if you want to jump on your own time then god forbid command will jump down your throat.

  5. HOW is releasing body worn camera footage of a Jumper landing incorrectly going to damage the reputation of the company? It is not the company's fault the guy got injured in the landing, the dude just landed wrong. Company is not liable for any "Wrongdoing", but if there is Workers Comp insurance, the company should definitely cover the surgery and hospital stay.

  6. Minnesota is a one-party consent state. The blurring was probably unnecessary, but I suppose you were trying to avoid the wrath of some middle manager in Legal.

The "is there anyway you don't do a report" sounds awful guilty. Doesn't suggest any wrongdoing in and of itself, but that's such a bad look.

That text response is also badly worded. I don't know what that first text is supposed to imply. "Don't weigh in like an expert?" Or something? IDK. At best, this was a failed parachute accident, at worst someone neglected something important.

On faith of MidwestSafety, I'd probably avoid these guys if you like skydiving. Even if they're your only local option.

  7. Appears this CEO needs to take some of his own advice. Maybe they should hire a lawyer and have them explain defamation laws. After they have an understanding of that perhaps the lawyer could also explain fair use for journalistic purposes.

The irony of this reply is hilarious.

  8. Everyone clapping: Nice crash. Good job living through it. Parachute club: We’re trying to cover for an active duty member that we put at risk so we would appreciate it if you guys would break the law to protect us. If not then we are going to sue you. It sounds like this CEO of Patriot Parachute Team is a weasel just trying to cover their ass. I wouldn’t trust this organization with my life.

  9. Lol, the grammar, spelling, and general accusations that were made by this company are laughable lmao. I would expect nothing less from an organization that named their company "Patriot." It's like a gun company naming themselves "2nd Amendment Rifle Company." Major eye roll, followed by "Their product is guaranteed to be absolute garbage." It's cheesy, it's simple, it's basic, and it's lazy.
