Where’s the evidence
The melody doesn’t have Kurt’s usual sardonic edge or melancholic tone. It sounds so earnest and genuine. This is the only song by Nirvana that consistently makes me cry purely because it’s the closest it feels to knowing Kurt. I think he really was a scared stunted kid in a way his whole life despite his genius and reverence. When I hear this song all I can think about is someone’s soul screaming out for understanding and being met with vapid silence. Fuck man, I wish Kurt was alive. Not so he could keep producing music for us, just so he could live to be okay again, whatever it was he needed.

I remember the first time I heard this song… It was a Friday or Saturday night. My buddy picked me up and we were cruising around in his folk's Honda just hanging out… This was after Nevermind had hit the world so anything Nirvana was popular… He had bought this cassette and threw it in the tape deck. This song came on and we just roared with laughter. We must've listened to it a dozen times. The 90's man, the 90's. What a time to be alive and be a teenager.
