Producer BUTCH VIG re-recorded this track at Sound City Studios in Van Nuys, California, in May 1991, during the sessions for the band's second album and major label debut, "NEVERMIND." Because Vig was already mindful of the song from his previous recordings with the band, it was one of the first tracks worked on during the sessions. Like the other songs recorded at Smart Studios, "IN BLOOM" kept most of its original arrangement, with new drummer DAVE GROHL following to CHAD CHANNING's performance and signature drum fills.
