He just went precipitously and impulsively along and landed himself in a quagmire that he has not been able to extricate himself from since then.
This choice, and the choice of Kamalla Harris and even the choice of J.D. Vance has caused me to think that the choice of a vice president should not only be up to the republican or democratic nominee, but perhaps should be subject to even a single narrow level of scrutiny or questioning by a few other senior persons and perhaps one other person in each of the respective parties.
