This guy thought too much about stuff to great avail, it seems. Just enjoy the music you like and who cares when/where/why/how it's from or whether it "sounds like" this or that. He sounds like a Platonist and personally I prefer Aristotle. Screw these Post modern idiots, they just talk crap.
He doesn't seem to work very hard at excluding the most obvious source of error for his observations – one's openness to new musical experiences degrades as one ages.
I hope Mark would’ve gotten to hear death grips before he died… similar to the idea that jungle is something you “could never have heard before”,., might’ve given him a little hope for us.
