I don't believe what the Trump administration is doing will add to the national debt, BUT our current debt of $37 trillion can't be healthy. That's what keeps me up at night. I want our politicians to explain how they are going to balance the budget every year and start to pay down some of that debt.
Why don't they teach this in schools? Maybe we would not have so many dummies as voters! On the other hand many of them are hard working people who are busy making a living to even think about government!
It has been proven that lower taxes help the economy and increase revenue into the government. Unfortunately there is no correlation between how the economy is doing and how much the government spends and adds to our debt. Under Biden the economy sucked and he just kept spending more; adding to the debt. I hope even though Elon is gone, DOGE just keeps slashing and burning the government workforce and wasteful spending- along with the tax cuts it will bring us closer to a balanced budget.

You could not be any more wrong than if you were trying Larry. Deficits and debt did not go up because we grew at 2.5% insteqd of 3%. They went up because of massive bailouts during the Great Recession and Covid in the form of both fiscal and monetary artificial stimulus. Just take the three Trump years before Covid. The deficit wenr up all 3 years. No fiscal discipline. Now more massive spending in this ridiculous bill. Trillions will be added to rhe debt. Republicans like to talk tough on the campaign trail about cutting spending and how much Dema spend but they too are spending way beyond our means. Scott Besent said when you cut government spending you cut into GDP. What nonsense. There is a big difference between Nominal and Real GDP.
