  1. It seems like half the comments are "You don't know anything about Judo! 😡" and the other half are "Yeah, I did Judo for years and it definitely sucks. 😮‍💨"
    Fight! Fight! Fight!

  2. I started Judo last summer, training during our BJJ open mats after class 2-3x week with our now Judo Brown belts and Black belts. I totally understand the negatives of Judo, but the advantages far outweigh the negatives. You learn about proper dominant grips, breaking posture, foot work to throws, base, balance etc. Some of which have been highly valuable for my Jiu Jitsu. Having trained BJJ off and on for the past six years, it’s not about learning all the throws but becoming efficient at the fundamentals and then picking a few throws/trips I drill to death until I can do them in my sleep. If I could start over again, I would add at least one Judo night a week and BJJ 2x to balance things out.

  3. Judo is great for armored combat, with its roots in ju jutsu it translates extremely well to armored MMA.
Koshiki no Kata techniques are meant to be done imagining that you are clad in armor.
Look at my videos for Judo in armor.

  4. I used judo twice in street fight, the use of the gi translated well and the second time.
    I am 5’10 dude weighing around 80kg or 176lbs
And the first guy I fought might have been 6ft 2 a bit overweight around 220 estimate from the double to single leg to foot sweep I landed on him.
Then I got a good top position that allowed me to de escalate the situation .

I must say this was him who tried to punch me first .

Judo help me in another street fight the guy was insistant very close to me punch me in the stomach suddenly I was able to get a hold of his jacket and shoulder throwed him in an instant.

In both situation my judo training helped me a lot.

I must say I am a black belt and have competition level which is a good thing in my country France which has a lot of practionner.

    Hope it helped 🙏

  5. Such a well put together argument for why Judo sucks. Well done, sir. You did piss off a bunch of judokas, but the stats speak for themselves. There's exactly 1 judo focused UFC champion (Ronda Rousey). 70+ wrestlers, 50+ kick boxing.

  6. i took some judo afther watching some bjj videos about positioning and stuff ,

i got yelled at for taking the back and being in a position in wich i could have gone for a rear naked chocke , because "i didn't have controll" , i guess a pin would have worked better ?

also it was the first sparring match and i was a white belt , so yeah i was mostly training positioning …

  7. you seem like someone who legitimately has a lot of experience in fighting and some useful insights to share, but you behaving like a teenager who learned something and is convinced that because something makes sense to them is the only possible truth really doesn't help you.
its perfectly reasonable to talk about a martial art weak points and it's applicability outside of its rules. but you really don't need to disrespect the martial art when you do that

  8. The only thing I disagree with as a BJJ practitioner is hoodies can be very similar to gi jackets. I will wrestle with my brothers who often times are wearing hoodies and jeans with belts. It’s way more comparable to gi than no gi. I’m not gonna be doing spider guard or anything but it’s definitely not no gi when you have a belt and a sleeve. Also the hood makes for a good lapel substitute on chokes.

  9. Ye but classic Jiu Ji(u)tsu is deadge, wrestling is probably even worse outside competition against opponents who dont play by the rules and sint BJ Jutsu just ass dragging into leg hump and finish with groin sniff all while hoping you dont get stepped on (oh maybe thats what they all wish for 🤔) or kicked by someone with boots? So what is better standing and throwing "sport" option? Sambo is kinda weird, im conviced it only works cause its done by Russians that are strong af

  10. Don’t know much about combat sports, but when BJJ vs a beer bottle or a three inch knife or a ten inch flash light, BJJ is the one end in the ER . To be honest most of the grabbers from are garbage in street fights . I used to live in MK district in Hong Kong for ten years and work as a bartender in the most violence bar in that area. In my opinion BJJ , judo ,wrestling , or mma just doesn’t work in street cos their is no weapon in the cage . Thai boxing , karate, boxing does a better job in street which is because they have anti weapons training .

  11. Judo great dont and I meen dont hate on it and im a yellow belt and im realy good.
We have ground control at my comps .
Judo uses gravity and movement to throw the uki(uki is the person getting thrown)pls dont hate on Judo
What if I said that your sport had horrible movements and horrible history.
Tbjs is why i hate Yt and you

  12. I have done judo and I think the main reason why it sucks is the rules. No leg grabs? half the limbs you can grab are gone. Making your opponent's back hit the ground while a throw to win a fight. I mean it hurts pretty bad when done right, but you cannot hope for that. Also they dont let you fight on the ground for long when they see that no one is close to winning.

  13. I looked into it and many of the comments on Reddit were circle jerking about how it's about more than fighting and will teach you things you didn't know about yourself, and other quasi mystical near chi type of bs.
As someone who focuses on movement and striking martial arts, I just wanted to start grappling training not join a fking cult.

  14. What tells me you're ignorant on all of this is that you, unironically, believe in the "can't throw without a gi" myth, or the "label grips" myth. A zipped up jacket still has a chest to grab, it still has a neck to grab, it still has sleeves.

  15. Doesn’t just the fact that you are fighting against a 100% resistant opponent give you a huge advantage over most people? I put my money on Rugby players with no martial art style over 90% of all martial artists in a real situation because they are used to struggling

  16. White guy with perfect teeth, groomed hair, cringe capeshit shirt highlighting flabby stomach; probably never fought an "actual" fight before. I see why this is called "armchair violence," it's like having a redditor as your corner/second.

  17. Some martial arts might have flaws in methodology, competitive rules etc but they might be really good for improving your current related style. Knowing judo might improve your jujutsu and/or BJJ just like knowing math/statistics might improve your understanding of economy.

  18. I witnessed a law enforcement officer trying to use a judo trip (koushi gari) to take an obviously untrained man to the ground. The officer started calling for help because the guy just kept stepping over the officers trip. It was comical, sad, and embarrassing all at the same time.
I do see some value in judo, I'm just not sure this particular practitioner was a shining example

  19. This video would be way better if there was some sparring or competion footage of you countering judo throws. For a martial arts channel this one doesn't have a lot of sparring at all or competion footage

  20. You might be right, but you didn't have to be such a jerk about it 🤣. When people ask me about judo I always emphasis that it is a sport, first. Even as a martial art, it was derived from traditional Japanese ju-jitsu, which was invented to take down an armed samurai should you find yourself in a fight with one. Not very practical nowadays. Its still a beautiful martial art, and like all grappling sports, a hell of an exercise. That being said, I do plan cross training in bjj and boxing in the future.

  21. Look up Jason Morris,
first US judo silver medal olympic champ
D1 new york champion in wrestling
Winningest new york d1 wrestler in history record something like 160-4
5th place nation champ wrestling d1 division
Never threw a single wrestling shot his whole career won every match with sweeps and judo throws
Tale as old as mma, crosstraining beats single discipline everytime

  22. I work in a job which requires me to sometimes deal with violent aggressive people. I've found Judo sweeps and trips to be very useful and effective. I also used a full hip throw once to protect myself.

Most people, including violent people, are untrained in combat sports. When they grab you they often instinctively try and drive you backwards or twist you down. If your used to Judo style grappling these actions make them vulnerable as they bring their hips in close with a high centre of gravity.

I've also found clothing grips to be effective on hoodies, jumpers etc when controlling people. I wouldn't be put off learning Judo in conjunction with boxing etc for those interested in practical skills.

All that aside I very much enjoy the channel, hope you keep doing what your doing.

  23. As a brown belt In judo and a current bjj and mma coach, I tell my people this constantly. They always want me to teach judo throws. I tell them if I thought they were good, I would teach them.
