dubai is interesting, but very hot and has wet air. was there in the "cold" season, at october, but we had 50 degree C and at night there still was 38degrees. and it is still a place where slavery is common. dubai mall is amazing, with ahuge playground for ikds, an ice scating area and this absolute gorgeous aquarium. BUT you are not allowed to take the hand of your spouse in public or kiss him/her at the cheek!!!!!!
and the public railway is so great, they run without a driver controlled by a computer. and they have this since long time. i was there 11 years ago.
life is very expensive, but you musnt pay any taxes for it. at the chashier of any discounter during payment they dont hand over excact amount of change. i.e. you have to pay 96 fils (=cents) they take 1 dirham without handing over the remaining 4 fils.
the lokals can decide whether they want to take a job or not. but all the workers are treated bad often. i spoke to a worker at the food court at dubai mall. he told me, he was from sweden. studied foreign languages, he spoke four languages fluently and he worked at a french fries seller! the salary for expads in not so high qualified works is low and these ppl have to live with several others in one single room sharing beds: one works tthe other rests. sometimes 4 or more ppl share one and the same bed.. no AC and many bugs in the house. only high qualified worker get good salary, because they are paid by their own company that sent them to dubai. normal also, your employer takes your passport from you as long as you work for him.
why do i know this? because one of my relatives lived and worked there for a while.
she has to take every work offered, stay where ever she could pay the rent for. when you got staying at the beach at night they put you to prison. she only escaped that slavery with a trick she put on her employer for getting back her passport and a loose of more then 500 dollars of her payment. if she ever returns to dubai, she would be arrestef for her escape.

I went to Dubai as a navy personnel back in 2006, and while driving to get to Dubai they had cranes in the hundreds left and right from the highways and were constructing over a hundred skyscrapers simultaneously! Most cities only have a few constructed! Dubai’s wealth comes from the elite royal families and their money is coming from oil money! They know oil will run out one day so why not create a tourist city! Most locals can’t afford to live in those areas! So older towns exist along side the more expensive ones. Since epidemic, things are been abandoned for travel. Tourism haven’t taken off yet…. Only the rich comes at plays which keeps that area alive. Real money comes from non rich tourists! Not the big spenders

Acting for the Royal family, the OBC, a hugely wealthy private safari setup, have had their eyes on privatising thousands of acres of Ngorongoro, and Loliondo, key parts of the Maasai homeland in Northern Tanzania for decades.
Ironically, part of these lands were actually set aside for royalty under British colonial rule – in the ‘good old days’. These days, thanks to OBC, ‘hundreds of members of Arab royalty and high-flying businessmen spend weeks each year hunting antelope, lion, leopard and other wild animals’.
The area is leased (under the Otterlo name) by a member of an Emirati royal family who is a senior officer in the UAE defence ministry ministry.
