as an absolute materialist, I am disappointed.
1: anyone who thinks that the Jesus's "philosophy" is "lovely" clearly didn't read the bible, don't complement that venomous and disgusting fictional character
2: as someone with a scientific outlook on life, I know that nothing that can't be proven can exist. if there is no proof of existence – there is nonexistence, to define something as "existing" there must be a proof of that existence, and as the existence of an unspecified god cannot be proven in any conceivable way, we come to the conclusion that there is no god or gods

You might be interested in some of what John Lennox has to say about God. He is a professor of Mathematics at Oxford. Or Cambridge… and I know getting them mixed up is a faux pas. No disrespect intended. And to every person here who does not believe, I apologize to all of you for any general crappiness from people who do believe. That's not cool to do to other people and not what we're supposed to do. Jesus was super clear about loving others and we sometimes drag his name through the mud with our nastiness and that isn't cool. Neither is being a dick to people.
Most atheists I've heard from would still call that atheism but make a distinction between hardline atheism and agnostic atheism by defining agnosticism as a point of knowledge and theism as a point of belief. For example: I do not believe there is a god is different from saying I believe there can be no god. Food for thought
One view is to accept people believe what they want to for their own reasons, and be at peace with it. Kindness is an important element in life and it’s kind to keep your own beliefs from negatively impacting others. People change throughout life too and their experiences can influence that. I knew someone who kissed a crucifix for just about everything for decades, then they suffered a terrible accident and threw that cherished crucifix into a bin. I’ll always remember that. The human brain is brilliant, we are brilliant, and we find all sorts of ways to try and remain sane, strong enough, happy, motivated, lawful, purposeful? Religion seems to be one of them, and a powerful one as seen historically. Good health all.

I love that opinions like yours exist. I'm firm in my faith, but I am fascinated by the other outcomes other people have come to. Everyone is absolutely entitled to their belief/nonbelief/whatever else may be. I just want to know the thought process and evidence behind it.
Well there is plenty of evidence that support Jesus existed and also proof he was resurrected.

I am an atheist bc i have yet to hear a god claim that i believe. Thats it. I cant claim that there isnt a god or creator. Bc i can't prove a negative. I am an anti Christian nationalist though. I will fight the power of the church and politicians that try to claim gods will.

If you don't know (a-gnosis) and consequently don't believe (a-theos), that's atheism. Atheism is NOT the stance "I know for sure there are no gods!" If you don't invest belief in theism, then you're not a theist. Not-a-theist = atheist. It's that simple.
"There is no god" is the stance of a subset of atheism — the anti-theists.
I see cosmological panpsychism as a much more plausible idea than most people seem to. Thing is, if the universe were one big mind, that's still not god to me. I can't think of a reason to call anything "god" unless it fits the definitions that theists offer. And about that, I've explored a huge variety of god-concepts across world religions and in a few philosophies for 40 years… I find it is ALL vacuous talk. They might be pointing at something real but their wish to call it "God" actually obstructs their effort to justify believing in it (because they're mythologizing reality when they do that). I think there is "something" there… like possibly a sentience to the material universe… and I suppose a person inclined to use the lingo of mythology to describe tings would say that's a "god". I am not such a person, I don't give a toss about mythology at all.

BTW Jesus said 34 “Do not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35 For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 And a person's enemies will be those of his own household. sos no it's not hard to argue and if Jesus even existed, he was completely immoral.
As a scientist, you should find out what atheism even means first. Atheism is NOT the position that there is no god. Atheism is the position that you have not been presented enough evidence to convince you that there is a god. To make it simple if you actively believe a god exists you theist, if you don't, you're atheist. It's that simple, but religious people intentionally lie about this to confuse people about the definitions.
