Actually the proper way is to unlock the red lever. Tip the can up vertically and rest the gas spout extension piece on the lawnmower tank. Then push down and when it’s almost full slowly start lifting upwards and the flow slows and then eventually stop. You don’t have to hold the lip with your hand. That makes it more difficult and your less likely to spill gas.
Good instruction video…one thing I'd like to point out…these cans are very difficult for older folks with arthritic hands! If you fall into that category there are can modifications that can be made.
How do you get the gas into the can? The nozzle at the gas station kept shutting off on me or spilling when I was trying to fill the diesel version of this can.
You just took a gas can that if used properly can be used to completely fill up some thing without overflowing if you stick the nozzle down inside of the filter spout on the lawnmower tractor it will stop filling when it’s full. Automatically you just completely obliterated that feature
You don't have to hold that lip on the can. You put the end of the spout in the can and put that lip on the edge of the tank.
Spilt more gas with these stupid "safety" cans!
Dumbest design!
Remove the white "thing" in the spout, cut off the tabs on the bottom of the locking ring, and use a battery powered transfer pump.
No spills or wasted fuel!
When storing it, do you put the nozzle back inside with the red piece ?
Thank you for the instructions!
Literally ran out of gas and now can’t use the damn thing so I’m here
Thanks for posting this video.
Thanks for the instructions!
Thanks. Another thing you can do is just cut off that ratcheting thingy that makes it harder to unscrew the cap. The only justification for it is as a childproofing measure, which for many people is not relevant.
Also, depending on the type of nozzle on the can, it may be helpful to get a gas can vent cap for improved fuel flow. Cheap improvement and at Amazon.
Thanks for this! I've broken more than one of these nozzles trying to get the gas to flow.
