Halo was a franchise built upon it's solid gameplay and excellent world-building. But it's greatest success was through it's social features and building those up. Halo Infinite currently lacks most of the social features that made the franchise what it is, and we're gonna dive into why this is a problem…

  2. Having watched this cycle over and over since the 90s… every big MP game has a life cycle, gaining popularity when its new & innovative, then slowly losing popularity as it has to adapt to changing tastes, which will cause it to lose its identity over time. Only solution others have found in other mediums is to pivot to being Classic at a much lower popularity. The Rolling Stones become this institution that makes a lot of money doing tours… but will never come close to dominating the pop charts ever again. And they only did that after losing their way for a few albums.

Halo can probably appease its aging fanbase by making sure they never attempt to be culturally relevant ever again… kind of like Quake, which I hear is still kicking around.

  3. The Bungie Halo installments consistently delivered and improved in ways that mattered with every installment. It also showed you don’t need the master to make a memorable and enjoyable halo game

  4. challenges feel so much more rewarding for unlocking new stuff, i would love a game that had shit like that again instead of microtransactions and battle passes. Like bf4 with half of the weapons being unlocked by IN GAME CHALLENGES and the other half you get from leveling. THE PHANTOM BOW. which was basically an entire quest within multiplayer. BUT it has to be done right, doing dumb shit for battle pass xp is NOT what we want.

  5. This is why I think battlepasses are worthless for player retention and what I would replace it with: social features and mod support. Keep adding vanilla content like maps, weapons, skins and equipment that you get from doing cool things or challenges, and give them social features, lobbies that stay together, and mod support, and your game will likely last a long time.

  6. I wish we could grab 343 leadership, Microsoft leadership, and stick them in a room – and force them to watch this video 3 times. Then on the 3rd time, get them all together and get them aligned on this idea:

1.) LAUNCH THE FUCKING GAME WITH FORGE MODE. It is a no brainer – let the fuckin community generate content on their own while you work on OFFICAL content!!!

2.) LAUNCH THE GAME WITH THE FOLLOWING FEATURES:
    – Customs Browser
    – Pre/Post game lobbies
    – Vote on maps
    – File share and community pages
    – Rotating community made maps into the fuckin matchmaking!!!
    – Customise armour while searching
    – encourage voice chat and ditch parties
    – Slayer lmfao

That is the formula. That is genuinely all you needed to do, to make Halo Infinite an absolute slapper of a game. Fuck man it pisses me off so badly how badly 343 have fucked it up… The potential was there, and thats what makes it such a pain…

  7. I may be the only 1 but can we stop with chief??? He shouldn’t be the only badass 🙄 as a big fan of rhe franchise, I’m done with mc. Put love n thought into other characters. New this n that.. cmon

  8. Bungie should have let Halo die with some dignity. Games are a craft, and Halo isn’t Halo without its original creators, writers, and designers. The only thing that makes modern “Halo” games Halo is marketing.

  9. In a vacuum, Halo Infinite is a great, even fantastic, game. But I also think too much of the fan base was alienated/upset/disillusioned by Halo 4 and 5, that there was no one left to care. Thus, it's downfall. One can only burn so many bridges until no one is able to come to you when you want it.

  10. This is why when you buy a game from its original devs, you create a game that acts as a reboot, without selling off the previous games. The Halo 4 approach. We saw how that went. If they’d tried to market a ReApproach to Combat Evolved it’s be even worse. But if they’d marketed it as their Own Umbrella of the Halo franchise and marketed them as such, I think the community would’ve received it a lil better. Title influences the reception of the game quite a bit

  11. Makes you wonder if Halo studios will take any of this advice to heart. Part of you will always have hope. Hope that they’ll see the errors of their past. The issues with appealing to executives and investors vs the players.

But then reality sets in. And two years pass, three, four, five, and it’s eventually the release for the next Halo game in “the franchise.” And you’re left with what? A huge memory hole for those who produced the new Halo, crunch, sexual assault allegations, mass layoffs, outsourcing, the list goes on and on. It’s a vicious cycle that has not ended since, I don’t really know the year to be exact. 2010? It could be nostalgia or just me having been too young to notice. All this culminating in a substandard piece of media created by committee. Unloved, driven by skins and in-game currency, cold, heartless, lifeless. 343’s series was a shell of its predecessor. The next series will be a husk. Unrecognizable to those of us who loved it so much. And still love it to this day.

  12. Another thing about first impressions, Act Man is a huge success because he's a gamer like us, he loves video games as much us he gave us his first impressions back in 2015 when he made 5 or 6 videos explaining why halo 5 sucks and since then he's grown his channel.

The reason why we love Act Man so much because he sold us his identity with his first impressions and kept his Identity while looking for new ways to keep us entertained.

We the viewers make him successful and he knows that which is why he still has his channel he doesn't care about the money we make him he cares about us the people who has stuck by him.

Act man thanks for the videos and congrats on 10 years of success.

  13. First impressions are important, wether you are meeting someone for the first time or playing a game or reading novels/comics.

Bungie sold us their identity with combat evolved and it was a success, they kept their identity and that's why we loved them and halo, 343 sold us their identity and when we were comfortable they showed us their true colours which is why their games failed. People don't want to be lied too.

First impressions are most important and even though 343 failed with their first impressions we forgave them and gave them chance after chance and every time they we forgave them they showed us their true colours.

And that's why 343 Industries and their version of halo failed.

  14. Pretty sure I started on Halo 4 which while I know the community isn’t a fan of, you’re right in that splitscreen immediately got me into the game, playing splitscreen or local LAN with my brother is a great memory. To just cut these features and make it as less social as possible you kill the reason i feel in love with the series

  15. I only played halo 2 at my friends house. Just campaign and i really loved that. Is the multiplayer really such a core part of the game? I always thought master chief just looked awesome and shooting aliens was fun

  16. Halo changed online gaming, I can’t even hear about a multiplayer without thinking of halo, if I hear capture the flag I think of halo. Crazy how much Halo influenced gaming, so many good memories with halo, what were you play station people doing while we were having fun on halo
