  1. I haven't watched any of my old videos in awhile, but I've been keeping tabs on the channel and noticed that this one was of greater general interest than a lot of the others. Thank you to everyone who has subscribed, liked, disliked and otherwise engaged with this video (and others!) – I am very new to video production/YouTube in general and I have been greatly encouraged and truly helped by all the warm feedback that I have received from people on my YouTube venture so far. I genuinely want to provide useful information and insight for people looking at Edmonton as a potential place to live. I thought my best attempt at a video that explored some of the sketchier elements of the city a fair and balanced way would be useful to some soul out there.
I noticed that I tend to say certain words WAY too much, and man do I look dog tired in most of my earlier videos (as if somehow Freddy Mercury and Vince Vaughn produced a child with equal genetic contributions and then that kid just kinda wasn't chill on sleeping that much) – I was using harsher lighting then too and I'm kind of a red faced sweaty camper during the warmer months like a true Germanic. I don't live in a not air conditioned abode because I'm on a budget in a concerning North American economic climate, I do it for the environment! I'm definitely in the learning phase of making videos – how do Zoomer kids make amazing videos in 7 minutes that earn them enough money for a 2021 Audi at minimum?

To every single one of you – Thanks again for all the support and engagement with this video, I look forward to working on future ideas and striving for improvement along the way – cheers folks!

  2. Edmonton is not near as Dangerous as it was in 2005 when we were the murder capital of Canada.
Most of you have no idea what Edmonton can really be like, be thankful its not like that right now.

Alot of people need to take the headphones off, look up from their phones and learn situational awareness in public.

  3. I am a security guard for last 6 years worked in winnipeg , Calgary , Edmonton in the same profession. I would say it’s people choices that bring a down fall in their life. You cant expect good to happen if you do drugs , mix with rough people , don’t work etc. Also alot of them will blame their upbringing or generational trauma but I have seen thousands of people coming from legit war countries and who have lost their families coming to Canada and working whatever job they can get and provide for the family. It’s just you need to be hold accountable for your actions and can’t put everything on generational trauma.

  4. I've lived in Edmonton my whole life, and this is basically accurate. The east downtown core and Clareview are known to be rougher areas. Lower income, higher crime. And specifically 118 Ave and the area north of Commonwealth Stadium are not recommended. I lived right in that little part he circled around Norwood Blvd, and I would describe it as less than ideal. Certainly choose to live elsewhere if possible lol.

  5. Random, my a$$. Mass immigration brings shethole tribal conflicts. Saw this coming for 50 years. Wake up and deport those who do not share our values or reap the whirlwind.

  6. Edmonton is a crucible of fear, a gulag. My family and dearest friends have escaped and thrived. Shout out to the Parkallen Bakery and Millwoods Mall.

  7. Grew up in Oliver and Glenora between 1952 and 1981. Very safe for us in these neighborhoods. One time I was riding my bike, swerving between manhole covers, and the policeman pulled me over for a talk. Little gestures like that made me more conscious of wright and wrong. Looks like those friendly interventions are a thing of the past. Sad to hear how much Edmonton has lost.

  8. I lived in southwest edmonton all my life — and no issue. From riverbend to Windermere. Of course there is a subsection in edmonton where is less ideal and this is north-east part of edmonton and possibly the area near Chinatown.
Edmonton is nostalgic and ive had very fond memories here. Lived here since 1988

  9. I grew up on 153 Street and 101 Avenue, just a block north of Stony Plain Road, I was born in 1970 and we moved in 1978, it was sketchy even then My friend and I would go to Jasper Cinema for Double Features on the weekends. We would pass through the parking lots of the Klondiker Hotel and the Saxony Hotel to get there. We were 4 and 6. But we survived. I remember a particular instance when I went alone, I was 5 or 6, and my friend was gone on summer holiday. I walked by a drunk guy in the alley, and he said hey little girl come here for a second, I was streetwise but still interested, He gave me all the change in his pockets, it was over $10! Lol, I grabbed it and ran like I was being chased! Yep, we moved when I was 8, but now I drive by and wonder how I even survived It's all homeless, drunk, and drug addicted. It makes me sad.

  10. A couple years ago i was living just off stony plain and 156, and i swear there was a shoot out with police. I heard a couple shots, and some screaming. Then a while later i heard some shouting, what sounded like a gun shot, followed by what sounded like a bunch of gun shots.

Maybe it was just somebody getting rowdy with some fireworks, because there was no reports on it, but it sounded like a shoot out, and that area was rough.

  11. Do you have any thoughts on Century Park? Trying to move there but ive had a friend telling me it was dangerous but ive been in the area and it seemed relatively normal and peaceful

  12. Been here in central Edmonton for 14 years. They don't call it Stabmonton for nothing. But, hey, they're going to spend another 14 million on bike lanes, so that should fix everything, right? 🥴

  13. I use to work in the belvedere area, and I remember there was a period of time were my coworkers and I would carpool home because they were getting mugged in clareview every few days. Very good breakdown of the city, all together though!
