  1. Thank you for posting this. I knew a little bit about Gene Tunney already, but I looked him up today (& found this amazing video) b/c I remembered my WWII Gen grammy telling me that her cab-driver father Charles Moore was friends w/ Gene's brother–think they were drinking buddies. Then I sent my dad the video, & he told me that Gene used to hang out @ my great-grandfather's Perry St. apartment in the West Village when my grammy was a baby. I thought that was pretty cool. Also, my grammy's Irish maternal grandfather Tom Murphy knew him b/c he'd also been a local boxer. The village must've been such an amazing place to grow up in back then. Imagine being a cab driver & a huge people-person there? I hope that one day we'll get to meet our departed ancestors & listen to all their amazing stories.
Oh yeah, & the song you picked is amazing too, & so is the editing. Thanks again for posting this! I enjoyed it thoroughly.

  2. Harry Greb is one of the goats he beat this man once out of their five fight rivarly and was robbed atleast once but fair play to Tunney He won the last fight in dominant fashion.

  3. I'm nearly finished reading his biography which was gifted to me by a distant family member of Tunney's and written by a brilliant and informative writer named Jack Cavanaugh called: Tunney.
It's a great read and also a very informative book concerning boxing history during the early 20th century. I also enjoyed reading about life during the Roaring 20s. I highly recommend it!
Gene Tunney was a very good defensive boxer! He had good hand speed, was a fantastic combination puncher, and had an outstanding jab that reminds me of the greatest ALI.
I think that he wouldn't have made the ten count considering the damage that he sustained from Dempsey, though. A controversial win.

  4. Monday Twenty-Ninth of May Two Thousand And Twenty-Three.
    13.16pm.
Dear Sir/Madam. Good-afternoon. How are you? I hope you are well.
Gene Tunney, was over-rated. He, was not, all that good.
I give him 4/10 for effort.
    Yours Faithfully.
    The Bull of Lewisham. 🐂
