Yeah a great way to take us all back there ! Thanks man
Thank you for posting this. I knew a little bit about Gene Tunney already, but I looked him up today (& found this amazing video) b/c I remembered my WWII Gen grammy telling me that her cab-driver father Charles Moore was friends w/ Gene's brother–think they were drinking buddies. Then I sent my dad the video, & he told me that Gene used to hang out @ my great-grandfather's Perry St. apartment in the West Village when my grammy was a baby. I thought that was pretty cool. Also, my grammy's Irish maternal grandfather Tom Murphy knew him b/c he'd also been a local boxer. The village must've been such an amazing place to grow up in back then. Imagine being a cab driver & a huge people-person there? I hope that one day we'll get to meet our departed ancestors & listen to all their amazing stories.
Oh yeah, & the song you picked is amazing too, & so is the editing. Thanks again for posting this! I enjoyed it thoroughly.
Reminds me of ali
Brilliant boxer way ahead of his time with his in and out movements and combination strikes
Worst music ever
Уникальный боксер. Только через 35 лет его технику в совершенстве разовьёт Мухаммед Али
This is a nice video, but I had to turn the sound off. The music is really silly.
3:50
Tunney timing Dempsey changing levels for a body jab and immediately seizing the momentum is breathtaking.

Yes Gene was a very underrated boxer i totally agree with that assessment.
Man he was Ruggedly good looking Man.
Harry Greb is one of the goats he beat this man once out of their five fight rivarly and was robbed atleast once but fair play to Tunney He won the last fight in dominant fashion.
Semper fi Marines 💪🏻
I'm nearly finished reading his biography which was gifted to me by a distant family member of Tunney's and written by a brilliant and informative writer named Jack Cavanaugh called: Tunney.
It's a great read and also a very informative book concerning boxing history during the early 20th century. I also enjoyed reading about life during the Roaring 20s. I highly recommend it!
Gene Tunney was a very good defensive boxer! He had good hand speed, was a fantastic combination puncher, and had an outstanding jab that reminds me of the greatest ALI.
I think that he wouldn't have made the ten count considering the damage that he sustained from Dempsey, though. A controversial win.
1:42 is so impressive to me the movement he had. Precision strikes! Looks like a modern day boxer!
@Wulfar92 What say you in regard to people say he wouldn't fight colored fighters? Is there any validity to it? Hard to really say, as this was back in the 20's.

Dear Sir/Madam. Good-afternoon. How are you? I hope you are well.
Gene Tunney, was over-rated. He, was not, all that good.
I give him 4/10 for effort.
Yours Faithfully.
The Bull of Lewisham. 🐂
Thank you. 🌹
he was a perfectionist, regarding his fighting style. the conor mcgregor of his time
Thank you. 🌹
Irish Warrior!!
My grandpa watched Tunney in training camp. I think it was in French Lick In. But he was a Dempsey fan. Both my grandpas were.
The way Reznick edits or use to edit was unbelievable
Self made and a stallion of a human.
He has the face of like those olden day superheros or police detectives
Fascinating subject matter , great footage.
The video would have been SO much better without the loud screeching music.
Thanks for the video, REZNICK
Thank you. 🌹
TBE my Great Uncle Gene Tunny
That's my old friend, Ted's grandfather! Ted is just as handsome too
Thank you Gene 🌹
That moment at minute 2.16 in the video absolute class tunney enters the ring and dempsey shakes his hand presumably saying something like best of luck absolutely no ego whatsoever boxing is not like this anymore unfortunately
Thanks for introducing me to an incredible song, montage is superb
Lost to a Middleweight……….was in bed for a WEEK!
Like Dempsey would fight the Brothas.
Gene Tunney is probably one of the first to develop real boxing skills, and dance in the ring.
Whereas most of the earlier boxers were just flat footed fighters.
The man who best jack Dempsey
The only guy to stop Dempsey!
