The reason the can is designed like that has nothing to do with pour. If you notice there is no vent either. The purpose of the can is so no vapors escape. From 1996 on every vehicle built catches the tank vapors and the engine burns them when the engine is running. Shutoff the car and the gas tank is sealed tight.
These cans were designed for automotive gas tanks, and they work for that. Unmodified they are a pain when you need to fill the gas tank of a lawn mower or small outboard motor.
THANK YOU i thought i was out money for the 2 midwest kerosene cans i bought. your fix for me was the removal of the filter within the can itself. i use kerosene for back up heaters so of course i use the hand pump. i couln't put the nozzle down the filter guard. now i know. just take the filter guard out. good man. thanks again.
Thanks for the tip! I had septer gas cans, but the Midwest spouts fit them. Was able to get springs out, however one gas filter fell inside the can. I doubt it will matter much. Anyway, now I have two gas cans that will pour easily! Thank you!

I have weak grip strength, and I am have trouble removing the o-ring. The gas can I have is new/dry. Any advice?
Thank you very much .these smart genius are so dumb. And your are so much smarter than they are.❤
These cans were designed by people who never poured gas in their life.

For the sake of your own safety; buy our POS nozzle.
The Truck Guy: Thanks, dude. I have a kerosene can with this spout, and that thing was bugging the flip out of me. Thanks for the tip.
Thanks! but I just cut off the "red safety lock" trigger (the 10 lb spring will keep it from spilling, keeps it closed when not in use)😁
Thanks so much! I just bought 2 of these cans and will make the mods!

Never used one of those cans before so my question will be why you are modifying a new gas can? Thx!

However, if you have trouble with your hands and fingers, these jerry cans can be very difficult to use.
Screw the government.
Good info!
THANKS U
Hahaha…I've hacked all my Jerry cans as well. But to be honest, none of them were THAT ridiculous to start with. 😅
