Extremely rare penalty called ⚠️
Devils goalie Akira Schmid is called for goalie participation beyond center, the first time this penalty was called since 2006.

this generation has destroyed the word literally and this title is the most heinous misuse I've seen, literally
how did everyone get a penalty?
That’s a rare one in fact
Really the play by play guy wasn't aware of the rule?
So rare, there isn't a hand signal for it.
The NHL is scared of goalies joining the rush. Give the people what they want Bettman.
I like the dumb announcer it may have been headed toward your net and if you look with a puck was that puck was nowhere close to hitting the net whatsoever devils announcers are freaking so laughable 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Btw I'm a Rangers fan and I cannot stand Sam or Joe so don't take it personal double fans.
Honestly I don’t blame him for doing it because who knows if that puck was on a war path to his own net
After Patrick Rpy's classic spin-o-rama move past Gretzky, how can thsio announcer be ignorant of this rule?
That’s stupid rule if the goalie wants to take it end to end and deke the other goalie I say let him.
I completely forgot that was a rule
I think the last time I seen that happen was when Patrick Roy was playing for the Colorado Avalanche..
Patrick Roy is why this rule exists 😊
refs are terrible
Yes
I don't understand, first time watching ice hockey, what happened?
Can you check the goalie outside the little box hes in if he has the puck?
Can someone explain to a non hockey watcher what I just watched? So confused what the goalie did as I couldn't really see it
Oh ummm ok
hockey wouldn't be the same without that rule 😂
I think that I once saw Gerry Cheevers over the offensive blue line taking shots, and this is why the rule was created.
New Jersey could’ve gotten a double minor here.
This was a missed “too many men on the ice” call.
You can see other player to replace to goalie had already hopped on the ice.
If the puck had instead crossed the replacement player’s direction and he played it, the officials wouldn’t have called a “too many men” call – they don’t count the goalie who’s heading off so close to the bench as an extra player.
In this case, however, the goalie did play it, which makes that missed “too many men” call very important here. New Jersey should’ve penalised twice, one for playing it over the red line, and one for the goalie playing it at all.
Roy set this standard years back…
today I learned about goalies and redlines
Every one knows hockey is so fake. Www same
As someone whose is recently getting into hockey. Can someone explain what he did wrong please?
