This is a common occurrence; someone believes in their religion and will just make stuff up to be able to fit the modern world view in to their religious texts that completely focus on a few hundred sq miles. It's the Noah's ark problem, if you're an ancient people and only know of a few hundred animals it's not that hard to see them all fit on the ark, but when you have knowledge of the world and the millions of different animal species it just becomes absurd, and then some people add dinosaurs into the mix and it just becomes completely stupid.
