He thinks he's the smartest person in the room and is proud of his big brain manufactured evidence. He wants acknowledgement, and he wants them to believe it as solid evidence just to stroke his own ego. His story really fell apart after that. He never thought he was under suspicion by the cops because of his narcissism. They always get in their own damn way.
