im an umpire for girls softball. I've been called everything. I get the young mans agitation but I cant go clubbing anyone who calls me a name. Ironically the league i work in has 21 umpires. 4 are black. all 4 are top notch umpires, including de-escalation.

These comments are triggering to me, we live in a world where cowards hide behind a law to avoid consequences for being a bad person. That being said I have no empathy at all for the man who passed away, but I do have empathy for the young man who knew better and sadly ruined his life and has to live in guilt all because a racists asshole(who btw they said has been rude on multiple occasions had to be a racists) and he faced permanent consequences.

This is a perfect example of two groups in our society. One group that understands freedom of speech and having self control. The other group that only understands what they can tolerate and no self control. The latter, they gotta go, and I don't care how.
Hitting an old man is just cowardly no matter what crazy stuff he said. Call the police on them, you dont know his mental state. Could of been his grandfather doing the same thing and he wouldnt want them to get sucker punched
It’s a shame because the temporary manager seems a nice honest guy, but temper has no place in the service industry.
This is a situation that happens so often that people who lose their temper and strike out should make a mental note, if they do go to hit somebody because they can’t control their emotions and they are standing on a hard or concrete service, they should try to catch the victim to break their fall so it doesn’t end up in a death or a life changing injury.
I’m not sure how this should be handled but for the black guy any jail sentence will seem too much, but for the family of the dead victim 20 years wouldn’t be enough.
