I mean honestly most managers will have their fighter go up against someone they think their guy can beat, and if your guy draws a lot of money, you ride that gravy train as long as you can. Plenty of champs have ducked guys their managers thought could beat them because the money is better if you hold the tiyle or keep a win streak going.
