Hello Ladies & Gentlemen and as always, thank you for watching!!! Today, is just another day in the life of a towing & recovery operator. Christmas Eve, late evening call out for a car off the interstate, down a steep embankment, and stradling a ditch. I have the Peterbilt 337 rollback Miller LCG12 at home with me, so I take it to check out the situation, only to find out that I didn’t bring enough truck with me for this job. So, I call Oscar to bring out the Rotator, our Century 1150R, to help me do a little “Fishing in the dark”, again, on Christmas Eve. Oh well, that’s just part of the job. ENJOY!!!

Thank you, God, for blessing our family and our business. Watch as we continue to receive God’s blessings. There is much more to come!!! I hope you enjoy this video!!!

We have a difficult and dangerous job and we take it very seriously, that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun and enjoy our work. We strive to be polite, professional, efficient, and safe…and still can have fun. I hope you all enjoy this video!!! Thanks for watching and God bless!!!

My common analogy, “there are many ways to reach 10”. I could have approached this (any) job several different ways. The approach method is important, but more important is achieving the desired result, safely.

Again, a very special thank you to all my viewers, family, and friends who having taken the time to show their support. May God bless and protect you all!!!

  1. One question… Nobody apparently seriously hurt, if at all, everyone out, why call you out on Christmas eve? it can sit there no problem for a few days, won't hurt anything.. How many vehicles have been seen in the last week buried in snow on the side of the road? Heck, a few weeks ago, on the way to a hockey game for my daughter, I saw a car pretty far down the right side on I-270N that had apparently been there for a minute… If it's not on the roadway causing traffic issues, then it truly can wait and you don't need to be called out for such clearings in the middle of the night or on holidays. Not to mention operations like this tend to be safer for you in daylight hours. IMO, there was no reason they had to call you out to deal with it when they did. They could absolutely have waited.

  2. With that older Crown Vic so Destroyed, I hope it's not coal in your Christmas eve stocking when the job's pay day rolls around. I hope you and the family had a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year.

  3. Ron, You and Oscar both make a great partnership. Whilst the rest of the Christian world were celebrating Christmas Eve, you were down in the shrubbery at the side of the Interstate.!! Oscar is a really solid addition to your team. He must be!! You let him drive the rotator!! A Happy New Year to all of you at MidwestTruck. I look forward to another entertaining year of Ron Pratt videos. Best Wishes from the UK. Roy W.

  4. Hey Ron and the crew of Midwest Truck. I hope you all had a good and safe holiday season. That poor Crown Vic. i was ablet to tell what it was by looking at the keypad on the driver side door.
Just an FYI. I have been binge watching the original Hawaii Five 0. In on of the episodes they were looking fora suspect. He had about 5 aliases. One of the names was Ron Pratt. This was back in 1972-3.

  5. Ron, every time I hear you ask for permission to approach the scene, I'm reminded of your dad. I remember in one video at a train tanker derailment, y'all were cautious to approach because you weren't sure what it was carrying. Your dad proceeded past all of you to start surveying the site. I thought to myself, that is years of experience right there! He seemed to always have that sixth sense about him to the limitations of each task at hand. I loved watching him work. A man of few words, but those spoken were experienced and valuable. Ethan reminds me of him in that way from time to time. Murfreesboro, TN

  6. When I seen the White car I was thinking, Cadillac, night fishing for White Catfish, but when I seen the shape of the left rear of the car, I thought possible Lincoln Town Car, but I missed it. I always like watching Ron’s videos, because he is so humble & cares about people

  7. Great time for training! It’s good to see that you can step back and let one of the other guys do something new. I started to train some of our new guys and stepping back and letting them do it is the hardest part!

  8. Always sad to see the demise of an '80's classic. Looked in really nice condition before the ditch. This is why I don't want a classic car. Too scared it would get damaged.
