Thanks Adam! I had a good time watching! I just finished fixing my wife’s Kitchen Aid!
Entertaining!
I kept waiting for him to leave it plugged in accidentally so we can have
A part Tested video and part ElectroBoom.
Okay. First of all, kitchen aid tilt back mixers are crap. They are marketed for home users who never use them. I actually had my first one (my first mixer) break almost once a year. The tilt messes everything up.
Wish I saw this earlier. 😢. This makes me sad.
I would've loved to see new grease.
I just tore apart my wifes Kitchen Aid Professional Mixer to replace and regrease all the gears! Being that one is 20 years old, you should have given it a service while you were at it Adam!
Adam your a rock star man I watch every video you do its awesome I been working on a mixer my self here same problem speeds was going full blast now it’s fixed so the hair was crazy you reminded me of doc on back to the future when your hair was standing up I said Adam you need a bunch of clocks on the walls lol no I’m jk I love the show I’ll be watching forever keep all the great episodes coming your the best man god bless you I love you builds you do that shop is amazing I love how it’s all set up for almost any job known to man you can do any thing it’s the best show on YouTube ok take care see you on the next one brother
I have this mixer that Im fixing right now. This video (and a couple others) helped me. Mine stopped working completely and there is a small circuit board (see 21:49, follow blue wire) just above the speed control plate. This board is bad if you get 'completely dead' or 'full speed only' conditions. With a volt meter I had voltage going in but only 2 volts coming out. Part is on order. My governor, when I disassembled, had one of the two spring rollers off which I put back on. Ive decided to order that also. Thanks Adam! We miss Myth Buster!!
oh thats so funny. I had to calibrate 4 of these to be approximately the same rate.
almost die on camera… oh let's unplug it O_O
I never thought watching Adam fix a stand mixer would be so relaxing.
Might that have been the voice of Mr. Mixer I heard?
This guy!

This video was very helpful; it saved me time and money as I was working on the same mixer with the same problem. Thanks Adam!
It has a mechanical weighted governor which I thought was unique for the 2 lower speeds.
Nope, it still doesn't sound right on low speed. You failed Mr. Savage. The mixer got the best of you
The mixer may be old but it sure doesn't look like it got much use.
Dud you find Mr mixer?
That switch slot is the flour intake.
There is a guy on tictok who refurbished stand mixers and sells custom parts to keep them running like new
Lousy job
That's a bitchin' bench light. Anybody know where to buy one?
The top 2 screws on the speed panel are for speed stir-5 and the bottom screw isnforb6 and up
Adam please look at Mr mixer. NO LOCK TITE
Anyone have the tutorial on how to fix this I have the same problem lol
We have one of these mixers. One of the most badly made expensive things I have ever come across.
I Repair Those On Daily Basis Easy Fix
Adam, I have a Kitchen Aid model #4, I need a new worm gear drive assembly and can't seem to find the place to order one. I have called a few places and when I respond with the model #4 they always say it can't be the model #. The mixer is circa 1950's I have the part number for the worm gear. Can you help?
If the part that your wife said has enamel missing is the flat paddle, you might try the “dime test” to see if the top unit depth screw needs to be adjusted. Check out Mr. Mixer’s YouTube channel and parts store on the website for a part he invented called the Everdime. It makes the adjustment of the paddle depth easy for future corrections. I suspected the flat paddle because it is a common problem. If I am mistaken, sorry about that. I am about to return my friend’s KA mixer but will make some adjustments thanks to Mr. Mixer, including adding some lock washers and a spring and washer for attachments.
Isn't it still kinda unfixed?… chuggy stuttering at low mix speeds
Mine is 32 years old and runs and sounds like brand new.
Adam fix yourself up before your videos please. I can’t wrap my head around seeing you like this.
I'm sitting here watching and wondering when he's going to figure out there's 20-year-old grease in the gearbox.
I found this to be painful to watch 😂. I retired from KitchenAid and worked every part of the factory that makes the stand mixer. Every part inside of those mixers has changed very little. The original problem was that the governor had slipped back. Just needed a nut driver to put it back on. On the production line a orange rubber mallet fixes a lot of problems. 😁
HaHaHa,, I went through the same BS he did, wasted many frustrating hours screwing with the adjustments, replacing the parts, not giving up until I realized the parts were inferior to the original, I could almost get it right but after a few times of use it was the SOS! Save yourself, junk it
That’s was painful to watch! It also doesn’t sound right at the end on slow speed as if the gears need re-greasing
did you look at the brushes!!!
Oh, Adam. This was the time to replace the grease in the planetary. With heavy use, it is recommended to replace every year. Of course, that is a bit ridiculous, but every 20 years isn't unreasonable. That grease is thick, dark, and gummy in there. Loving this video as I just went through the exact same stuff, same frustrations, on mine. But I replaced the grease as well.
I purchased a KitchenAid 6 Series from Costco in the USA and I'm using it in India with a 1500-watt step-down converter. However, my new KitchenAid only runs for about 10 seconds on speeds 1 through 5, and then stops shortly after spinning. What could be the issue?
Mines wont turn on
We call ours our “Kitchen Tractor.” It’s lovely to work with (and work on very rarely) something made of solid metal with simple and effective design
is there something blurred on your workbench?
theres a guy, whose name i do not know, who make replacement parts for these. but non standard replacement parts. metals arms, special gaskets and things to stabilize the machine etc. because kitchen aid started making lower quality parts
Hello Adam,
How do i get one of those "awesomeness" TEE Shirts
We have a K555 model. Same problem. Spoke with KitchenAid. They said it was too old to repair and referred us to the sales department. Any hope?
I might be wrong but I thought there would be a spring that attaches to the bottom of the speed controller plate just under the bottom adjustment screw? It may be there but I didn't see it.
Your friend is lucky that's an older machine as it still has a spring on the beater shaft that KitchenAid removed several years ago KitchenAid decided recently to make the pushrod that moves at speed control plate back and forth out of plastic after Decades of making it out of metal just to save some money. The problem is it's very cheap plastic and it tends to melt. In that case you don't want to order another Whirlpool OEM part you want Mr. Mixer's metal replacement part.
Congrats on the channel success Alex. I dare say your audience is now near as large as it was in your Mythbuster days.
i thinks its pretty cool that my heroes even look up tutorials and how do's videos <3
