Tolerance is very different from forgiveness which is where everyone is misunderstanding. Jesus is absolutely intolerant of sin. He hates sin and loves us. When we sin, he doesn’t hate us, he wants to help us change. (What is falsely being taught is that when we sin, it’s okay because he loves us) Any time someone claims people shouldn’t judge them for what they’re doing, they’re often the ones trying to justify sin by saying Jesus loves and forgives everyone. This does NOT mean that sin is okay. It does not mean we are excused from living up to a higher standard. Jesus has the power to forgive sin. He asks us to come to Him with a broken heart and a contrite spirit in exchange. If you think that you can fornicate or commit adultery freely every day and then just ask for forgiveness then you are setting yourself up for a rude awakening at judgement day. Same goes for any other sin. You’ll know your heart has broken, and changed, when you no longer have the desire to sin.
This is what forgiveness looks like:
When the woman in the Bible was caught in adultery Jesus said, “Go and sin no more.” He didn’t condemn her and he didn’t say that adultery was okay. He forgave her and he asked her to stop sinning. A lot of people tend to only remember that Jesus forgave her, but forget that he asked her to do something in return.
This is what tolerance would look like in the same story:
If when the woman was caught in adultery and Jesus instead said something like: “Hey don’t worry about it. You can keep sinning because I am going to die for your sins, so there is no consequence for sin.” This is a false interpretation of Christ’s gospel. Some people live this way. We can’t wish our sins away just by praying to God while your heart is intent on committing the same sin the next day. The gospel is about changing your heart and controlling each and every decision you make to improve yourself to try and become like Jesus.
This is why Christians are not okay normalizing sin. It’s ridiculous for people to weaponize a couple principles of Christianity (love and forgiveness) against Christians while at the same time defending their behavior that doesn’t align with Christianity in the first place. It’s not that we hate sinners or non-believers, it’s that we know that it is not healthy for humanity to feel like we are already perfect and have nothing to change or improve. Pride and selfishness rule society today and it’s not something we want to be complacent with.
Jesus was never and I mean never, tolerant of sin. You are either condemned to he'll for your sin OR Jesus himself pays for your sins by his sacrifice on the cross. Jesus commanded people to repent did not tolerate a person living an unrepentant life. So yes, depending on the context, Jesus was intolerant of this type of life style. God's word is very clear on this.

You're not stating the complete scripture; after Jesus rebuked the crowd from stoning the adulteress, he forgave her and then commanded her "go and sin no more." He didn't say "hey, it's okay you keep sinning." So forgiveness is there but we must stop the sin. [John 8:11]
