  1. Bethesda showed their true, greedy fucking colors back when they tried doing paid mods on the steam workshop back in 2015.

They doubled down with Skyrim Special Edition and then Fallout 4.

Fallout 76 happened and THEN people started noticing the fucking greed.

  2. Well of course, Bethesda is desesperate to make mods microtransactions is also a stupid idea, you can get the mods for free.
Sure it takes a bit of time to learn how to and also the probablity of crashing the game (to be honest the base Bethesda games crash without any modification so paid mods are likely to cause your game to crash too) but you have better quality mods for free.

  3. "Nexus only has optional donations" Don't you have to pay to use their tool Vortex or something. I mean you could learn how to install mods yourself i guess but they really stress to you that vortex is reccomended. I've only really modded FoNV so i dont have a ton experience, but it just seems like a lot of people are jumping on a hate train for more content you legit dont have to buy at all

  4. i mean they already put it into skyrim and fallout 4 did you really think they would just stop doing it? nah it makes money fallout 76 literally has a subscription service for fallout first yall need to put two and two together. If bethesda has a story game nowadays that makes good money, their going to put the creation club in it.

  5. The last thing I would ever want, whether I have to pay for mods or not, is Bethesda controlling them in some way. But they would first have to release another game that was even worth playing for me to care anyway.

  6. What’s worse with all these things here to add on. Paid mods don’t even keep achievements enabled unless Bethesda made the paid mod💀it feels certainly not worth it

  7. Vote with your wallet or your time. If you have no time, vote with your money. If you have no money, vote with your time.

They don't like voting, they like clapping seals.

  8. This is why I don’t use the phrase “paid mods”, because lots of people are really fucking autistic, they’re just shitty cosmetics for a few bucks, that’s it,

Actual mods such as bug fixes and everything else is still free, they released the creation kit the same day, all mods will still be free, people are just really fucking stupid and cannot comprehend how big of a news cycle this would generate if it was all mods are paid 💀

  9. I'm kinda split on this. As a mod developer I would say donations are the way to go. I would want everyone to experience my mods and I feel like most hobby mod developers look at it the same way.

On the other hand, official mod support is great! It tremendously helps (especially with undocumented buggy messes like Bethesda games). And it definitely is effort that Bethesda has to invest. I don't know the exact situation on how far their official support reaches, but I agree that game developers get paid for supporting mod developers.

That said, this feels like a cash grab.

  10. "Creations" has been generating income for Bethesda in Skyrim forever. How is it's extension to starfield surprising, scandalous and a reason to review bomb? Just get your mods from nexus and criticise the actual game.
