I asked Jeff Chan, professional MMA fighter to rank martial arts based on how good they are for street fighting and then for MMA.

  1. 忍術が過小評価されているというのが逆に恐ろしく感じるねw
    なぜなら、本物の忍術を体験した者は皆死んでいるということだから

  2. Karate, bjj, hapkido, and currently tkd.

Karate for striking and distance control.

Hapkido for control while standing close up and moving to the ground to bjj.

    Bjj cause ground.

Tkd for maintaining fitness and flexibility.

  3. i don't see why wrestling is so high up. you're only learning one thing, to go to the ground… yeah then what?! u gonna pin em on their back for 3 seconds so they stop?! LMAO. seems like it's actually more dangerous to wrestle someone during a street fight if you don't have any striking ability and all ur gonna do is wrestle…

  4. Very odd ratings. Especially for on someone experienced. Weird scale too. In all arts there are what ifs. Reality is it could down to wrestling, Brazilian jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, boxing and kick boxing. Karate to some degree. Aikido for self defence or anything else is hilarious. It’s about as useful as a single layer of paper to stop a bullet. Very odd video and reasoning.

  5. I truly, truly appreciate you showing some sincerity when it comes to boxing. Most people just write it off as worthless in a fight. Boxing strikers are scary. They genuinely just need one hit.

  6. only s for me would be greco roman wrestling and muay thai, and I would put SW over JJ and BJJ as you have no clothes in mma to hold(cheat lol), so submission wrestling better than bjj and bjj in mma

  7. brazilian jiu-jitsu above boxing? If this guy is a pro mma fighter he either fought sheep to get to pro or he took so many hits that his cognitive abilities disappeared all together

  8. I ran nightclub security for years & I mainly trained muay thai but I found judo throws/takedowns more effective than my striking in this scenario, the thai clinch to knees on any joe blow worked every time. miss that job 😂

  9. As a silat practisy, silat is not very good at UFC or official tournament. But as a street fighter silat is effective. Like msny martial arts like to stretch out his hand when start punching, grabbing or measuring distance, actually in silat streching out hands is a weakness. We just except the punch, grab and pull his hand with the opposite hand, and then push or punch his elbow with another hand. The elbow will broken. That is like principle counter in silat. But i thing its not allow in official tournament

  10. I love Jeff’s feed back on this …only because I have seen him fight …he is highly skilled and educated in martial arts…a true martial artist and gentleman 👍

  11. I love your show and all,its contents and all the comments from the fighters ….but in regards to the best martial art is a big word considering the large variety or martial arts today…most martial artist know of the most common martial, arts but their are martial arts or fighting styles in some country’s that are so extreme and dangerous used in military or cage fighting …..personally it depends on the personally on the size of the person their fitness level, their skill and their experience and mostly their aggression …..in the 70s ..Kung Fu…80 s Karate…90s …Kickboxing…2000 s….BJJ….etc ….regardless …any martial art is a great sport and a great self defence method ….👍😎

  13. I used to practice Japanese Jujitsu. Ill tell you why we dont spar- its a very destructive art. Its designed to defeat your enemy- by breaking their bones, joints or submitting them into unconsciousness. They showed me where the jugular is and how to put someone out with it. Its also a lot of throwing the enemy if he grabs you from behind. It would be practical for a guy jumping at you in the streets but not for mma. We also learned a lot of little tricks like finger holds and breaking. Trust me when I say the holds hurt like a bitch. So with each move we practice, the idea is to incapacitate the opponent and dont give them a chance to fight back. If they dappled, it usually ends up as ground fighting, which where sparring would be.. Applied correctly JJJ can be very effective. However a lot of moves are obsolete bc it requires wearing a japanese style robe (still fun to practice though). When we did spar it was all grappling. But we werent limited to grappling moves. The things I mentioned like finger holds was allowed and so would ball hitting. Also Judo and BJJ got all their moves from JJJ so you would learn all that stuff but just not practice it as much, only bc youll have so much to learn and practice. I also practiced fma and with a weapon is extremely effective and deadly. However its heavily weapon based and almost useless for attack without one. Good for parrying on empty hand though. Ive redirected a few things thrown at me from fma muscle memory 😂. Muay Thai is super effective but lacks ground training. And also Tai Chi might not be the most effective but it does have dirty little tricks you can use on the street such as striking the throat. We were surprised at that. We were learning such a gentle form but one move where you raise your hand was an attack on the throat 😂 Id give it a B for it giving you incredible balance 😂
