  1. It is public safety. Everytime drugs and slaves and illegal guns are being transported they always get pulled over for no lights on or rolling stops or expired plates. If your transporting illegal stuff why not drive proper?

  2. Moriarty is intent on destroying the rule of law before she leaves office after the 2026 election! Her time in office has put all Minnesotans in grave danger with her soft on crime policies and treating victims as if they were the real criminals.

  3. She is the district attorney, not the chief of police. It is not up to her to dictate or try to influence policing. The police decide who appears in front of the judicial branch, and then it is up to her to prosecute whoever they bring to her, if in fact they have broken a law. This is the same nonsense as police deciding not to stop people for things that are clearly illegal. The police decide who did something illegal, and the DA prosecutes those they bring to her, if they have in fact broken the law. Period. If either does not like a law or thinks that there should be some nuance that isn't in the law, then they need to become legislators, the only people allowed to make laws. DO YOUR JOB, or get out of the way and let someone else do it.

  4. This reaction is total bullshit. Moriarty isn't curbing stopping people for things like tabs or lighting violations, she's saying her office will lean towards not prosecuting those who are stopped this way but brought in because of other alleged charges. People in the comments are out of their minds with hypocrisy saying these sorts of stops ought to continue, and yet I'm willing to bet those same people will cry and complain about how unfair speed cameras and license plates readers are to them, even though speeding and driving through traffic lights are both 100x more dangerous to our community than someone driving with a broken license plate light. Y'all don't get it both ways. This is a pretty reasonable policy from Moriarty, especially given the incredibly lacking results these stops have had in years past.

  5. @fox9 “If paired with visible, aggressive efforts against shootings, carjackings, and gun trafficking, it could work. Without that balance, people may feel less safe.” – Chat GBT Now we wait and see which law enforcement officers will step up and answer the public’s call for help.

  6. She is making up numbers. she is a white lesbian who thinks every minority is a victim and her Whiteness will help save the poor minorities.
When the truth is minorities will suffer the most under this policy. With more violence, Proof is in the pudding

  7. Oh hey you didn't use your blinker. What's in your trunk? What's in the box? Get out!? What's in your pockets and what's in your blood. I can't stand moriarty but this is legit . Dumb ass power tripping cops pulling people over for graduation pictures hanging off of rear view mirrors or a hat in the back window. I had a cop with one headlight pull me over and he had one headlight. It's straight garbage sometimes.

  8. It is so nice that the criminals no longer have to worry about having their guns on the seat next to him so they can reach them quickly or their drugs that they can take while they're driving. It's just so nice to not have that pesky inconvenience of having them under the seat or in a glove box.. As long as they don't speed pretty much do whatever they want.😂😂😂😂

  9. This lenient policy does not build public trust in the community. It empowers criminals to commit more crime.
Expired license tabs, excessive window tint, etc. are illegal. No accountability means people will not obey the laws. Simple.
Look how well Moriarty's catch and release policy has built public trust. Now we have repeat offenders on the streets, people fear going downtown, commercial real estate values go down, residential property taxes go up, and people leave. Minneapolis will be another slum in 10 years if liberal policies continue

  10. Moriarty has to go. Get rid of her. She implemented this without consulting any police organizations.
Her catch and release policies which she also said were her response to racial discrimination have been a disaster.
God i hope voters wise up and get rid if these clowns in office, including Walz.

  11. The facts are the facts and the fact is, in mn, less than 6% of ALL traffic stops in the entire state end up with an arrest for someone having a warrant or for a larger crime being discoved durring the stop. This is factual data reported by mn law enforcement. That means that out of every 100 people that get pulled over, 94 innocent people are getting harrassed by cops over traffic infractions which are not crimes in the state of mn….. and then 6 people are being picked up for warrants and most of those warrants are for failure to appear and low level bs.

Mn does not participate in annual vehicle inspections prior to tab/registration renewal and claim they do not because its up to the vehicle owners discretion if a vehicle is road worthy meaning traffic infractions like tail lights, windshields, window tint, the list goes on, are not reason for probably cause to initiate a traffic stop. That is how its defined by mn state law, so while this lady (if you wanna call her that) is wrong about a lot of things, shes absolutely right about not prosocuting basic traffic infractions, simply because shes not sapposed to be doing it in the first place and ita not sapposed to be happening.

If cops want to catch criminals commiting crimes and pick up people with warrants, then they need to go serve those warrants and do some investigations that lead to arrests….. not just hope and pray they can come up with a reason to pull people over and get lucky based on 6% of traffic stops may yield someone with a warrant or 1.7% that result in the stop leading to a larger crime…..
