  1. Well, it seems to me that, there being two clauses in the second amendment, that people tend to ignore the one they don't like and focus on the one they do. Or, interpret the one they don't like according to their reading of the one they do like. Probably they're all wrong. Those clauses are interdependent, i would say.

The thing that worries me isn't how to interpret the second amendment. The thing that worries me is that in our society there is a fetish for violence, partly manifesting itself in a fetish for guns. And everybody packing heat for protection won't make a safer society–getting to that point, where we feel we need to do that, will be a sign that civil society is breaking down, and all the guns in the world won't fix that. We already have most of the guns in the world, and people are getting shot up…

I don't think guns should be illegal, but like an overwhelming majority of the country, I do think that the amendment allows for regulation, such as background checks and registration. You have to register to vote, after all, which is a more fundamental right.

  2. Liam Neeson no S at the end of the last name Gary Cooper the strong, silent type actor look him up. You can find it in two seconds. You probably should do that before you even make your video instead of wasting the viewers time asking that question the Duke is John Waynesymbol of America in movies and the third one I’m not familiar with but he’s also an actor that’s who they are

  3. Getting rid of all the guns makes a population more compliant to their government. And, today, most gun violence occurs in places that have the strictest gun laws. The 2nd Amendment gives every citizen the right to keep and bear arms. Gun control nuts like to focus on the well regulated militia part. You can't form a militia if you don't have guns. The militia part is there so that the citizens could form an army against the government if it got out of hand, like the one they were fighting against. This is also the reason we've never been invaded by force, because the citizens have guns. Every time there's a tragedy involving a gun, they try to take them away from the law abiding citizens. Never let a good crisis go to waste.

  4. 6:45 Backed up by the writing of the Federalist Papers, the 2nd amendment is comprised of two statements, the first statement describes why the amendment is there (for having a well-regulated militia) and the proclamation (right to bear arms shall not be infringed). People argue over what a "militia" means, but in that period, any orderly (well-regulated) group of citizens (as opposed to a mob) gathered for defense is a "militia". It is not restricted to a government controlled group, like a standing army.

  5. 3:54 John "Duke" Wayne, Clint Eastwood (not Westwood as Archie mistakenly said). The quintessential movie male figures. I'm sure you've watched many a Clint Eastwood movie before, "Dirty Harry", "The Good the Bad and Ugly" to name two of his most well known movies. A modern day equivalent would be Liam Neeson from "Taken"

  6. A "well regulated militia" is the people, not a military. When he was talking about Duke Wayne, he was referring to John Wayne. He said Clint Westwood, he meant Clint Eastwood. John Wayne and Clint Eastwood did a lot of westerns where they were good with their guns.

  7. Man I watch these old shows now like this, Sanford and Son, Jefferson’s, Good times, they be having me rollin!!! But I also understand the issues now that I’m older… still funny as hell all of them

  8. It gives necessity for a militia to be formed, but it also gives rights to the individual to have and bear arms even though not a part of a militia. The writers carefully worded this exchange of conversation to deceive the viewer that only a militia was the subject of the 2nd amendment. Make NO mistake, the writers wished for the individual a right to keep and bear arms and form a militia against a tyrannical government that oppresses its citizens and overthrow their oppressors through a formed militia if needed.

  9. Archie was famous for putting his unique twist to people's names. Duke Wayne was John Wayne, aka "The Duke". Clint Westwood was actually Clint Eastwood. Archie just screwed up his name. lol They typically acted in Westerns or roles where they carried guns. Gary Cooper was a famous actor and leading man of the 40s, loved by all the ladies.

  10. When the Construction was written, every house owned a gun. The people when they came together made up the Malita, until then they lived there life's like people do today hoping that the government doesn't overstep its boundaries and put us in the citation to have to use them to defend ourselves against them!
When looking back at history, every time a government disarmed it people… tyranny soon followed, which led to the deaths of millions of unarmed citizens by its own government!
There is only one reason a government would want to disarm its people!

  11. Mike Stivic is Archie's Son in law Mike is Polish and going through College Thats why he and Archie and Edith's daughter Gloria are living in their house and thats why Archie is always getting on Mikes case for not having a job Archie calls Mike Meathead because of his liberal political views Archie is a right wing prejudice bigot and Mike is a left wing radical by todays standers and even back then. Archie goes on that news cast to do a rebuttal against gun control that is classic and very funny please share that part of the show with your viewers… Peace be with you and your family John 14:27

  12. We need better gun control. Take a class and learn to control your firearm correctly instead of spray and pray. I can put multiple shots with my .45 in a quarter size grouping at 25 meters. That's decent gun control you know!

  13. John "the Duke" Wayne, Clint "Dirty Harry" Eastwood, Gary Cooper – all great movie actors. Seargent York – real life person who grew up poor in the hills of eastern Tennessee that became a World War I hero. Your next review should be a SNL skit with Chevy Chase and Richard Pryor called… 'word association'.

  14. Getting handguns off the street means less killings. Most people can't kill you with a knife from 10 feet or more. They'd have to be very skillful at throwing knives. Also when the constitution was written I don't think we had a military. Citizens had to rally together to be our military in times of war. Thus the right to bear arms. This is my humble opinion.

  15. Look at Germany, China, North Korea and so on! When you take guns away from citizens mass genocide always follows especially if you go against what they want! Now those countries are a dictatorship! No freedoms. I will be keeping mine !

  16. A militia IS CItizens. Well regulated = well armed. The revolutionary war was largely fought by citizens who formed the militias aka minutemen, and every citizen was armed.
