That little thinking growl at 37:00…I know it so well…I thought I was the only one who did it.
Adam,
I would not feel any type of way by not using CAD to help with this project. In the early 1900s designers did not have CAD. Love the video man, I watch your videos because I love the way you work through problems and formulate solutions.
Adam ,
I have learned everything I know from my mistakes.
Wells fargo has some older banks which have some beautiful vault doors like this
I would be in heaven with a workshop like yours.
Awesome miniature build. A miniature bank vault. But why steel? Why not brass or aluminum? They would be easier to work with than steel.
you might try …while sawing aluminum with your jigsaw …spraying wd40 on the blade to keep it from sticking..!
He always seems so clumsy, messy and uncoordinated. Like he would be dangerous to himself in a workshop.
im making my second poker table, had a day last week where i just wanted to give up. putting cloth on and nothings going right. i felt the bitter in my bones. rough feeling. good job getting through!
Nice work Adam. Looks awesome.
No, he's got to do the Jason Bourne set up
Hi Adam, I love this build, but this episode was driving me mad screaming at the TV. You needed more clearance between the hasp (connecting plate) and the door to be able to pull before pivoting, but all you had to do was flip the hasp over so the flat side was facing out not in. It may not have been enough, but as it was it was acting like a single not double hinge.
Makes you think just what the machining would be like on a full sized door!
I know this is a bit late, but while yes it would save time and energy on screw ups to do stuff in CAD before hand but I admire the ability and confidence to like have a plan and just jump straight into hands on work. I would be the type to be extra careful in CAD and like never be fully sure of myself and so I never actually get the physical object done or even started likely. So the fact then Adam can just get into work and be confident in his own abilities and still consistently come out the other side with a beautiful result, albeit with possibly numerous screw ups along the way, is just inspirational
Big history.
Mistakes are data. All data is good. 👍
I am affraid you installed the main hinge body inside out !?
I feel ya buddy. My brain is also kind of a mess.
did you just sharpen your pencil inbetween your teeth!?
I really hate to think that the door might have worked just fine had you flipped your door's hinge over allowing the physical door to rotate further. That being said, having seen the progress you've made, this project is gorgeous and I'm excited for you! <3
how cool would it be to this being a complete miniature vault model
That story about the fairly odd couple and assume brought back a memory of my dad breaking it down for me that same way. Most likely he heard it from there. I reckon y'all are the same age or thereabouts. The more you know I suppose.
22:15 made me laugh, I was about to say this looks like a workout
This is why vault doors are built with decreasing stepped sections – to create a taper. I see you finally realized that.
There it is. 43:39 love it
18:39. I love it!
52:43 You quoted that same joke on Mythbusters. And I love that it's still making you laugh.
You clearly need a water jet!
I don't know why but the cut between adam slowly muscling the door on the flatening thing to using a drill made me laugh so hard XD
An acrylic back piece ,like you get with practice lockpicking locks, would show off the mechanism
For fun idea. Inside the wall ring add the inscription from the One Ring. "Is it safe? Is it secure?"
That miss quoted movie line has diven me crazy since i fisrt saw the movie. Similarly in jurassic park where the lawyer states if his clients aren't impressed (who aren't there) hes not impressed!
wow, that was quite a ride, watching your methodology, and your thinking process feels very familiar to me, except of course you actually possess mad talents and skills, this was fun
18:40 Guest appearance from Count von Count
I need part 4!!!
