  1. Apocolypto has some similarities to the incredible film Mad Max Fury Road. Both are full of kinetic energy that’s basically wall to wall action from start to finish. The through line or underpinning is a great chase: Fury Road is a vehicle chase in the desert wasteland whereas Apocalypto is foot chase through the dangerous jungle.

At any rate, both plots aren’t laden with superfluity & dialogue is limited. So much of the story, character motivations, etc is show through actions, facial expressions, etc Actors in these films don’t use dialogue as the primary vehicle of relaying information, motivations, etc They relay them through movement, actions & expression. It’s almost harder in a way especially if you’re a “methid” type or a dialogue driven actor. I could imagine this being very challenging to any actor.

Both films are very different yet the similarities are potent. Both films are master classes in supreme visual story telling. Oh, I just now realized the link between Mel Gibson & George Miller It’s no wonder then because of the obvious link between Mel & George & hence between Apocalypto & Mad Max or more specifically the Road Warrior & the Fury Road films. Mel Gibson was discovered by mad genius Mad Max writer/director George Miller who starred in the first 3 Mad Max films. He clearly learned a lot from George Miller & his style of kinetic visual story telling.

These films are bangers that you can watch over & over. If you’re channel surfing & happen upon one of them, they one of those rarities where you always stop & finish off.😊👍
