1:32 the referee in the back is my old coach LMAO
4:33 my prayers have been answered. This has to be one of my favourite techniques to look at, just from spectator side of things. If that doesn't make people want to watch judo, I don't know what will.
I never expected that doing sode left-sided from right sided stance and grip, as in turning clockwise, would be morote seoi nage if you have the default kumikata as in right hand on the lapel and left hand on the sleeve. It looks so much like sode with just lapel instead of sleeve because it's backwards. But maybe understanding the name in Japanese does make it more intuitive, given that sode refers to the sleeve specifically.
Btw, you talked about a throw that you called something like " a front uchi mata" and said you wish it got a name. It actually does. That throw is called Yagura nage. Pretty cool throw indeed.
@judohighlights2015 they should at least allow one hand to grab legs. That way it opens up a lot of judo waza, but won't resemble wrestling very much
Front Uchi Mata = Yagura Nage (tower throw)
That technique cannot be uki otoshi. The principle of uki otoshi is a rear drop with movement generated from the lowering or Toris body mass. None of which happens in that throw.
Whilst the foot for sasae doesn't fully go in the set up, hand movement and execution as resemble sasae perfectly.
Its not a perfect match as its a pure te-waza throw in execution but surely it is closest to a sasae overall
Great video … with a lot infos … thank you for doing this one ! Cheers …
Gold nugget after gold nugget for studying!!!! Thank you!
At 3:45 I think the technique is Obi Tori Geashi .
8:40 wow, i didn't hear about any rule change for that.
I'm on the side of scoring it though, i just wouldn't have expected it to.
1:30
It must just be me… but I thought this was one of the most beautiful uchi matas in a long time. Simply because of the entry
7:30.
You can also do soda when one hand is gripping the lapel. The difference between soda when you grip the lapel and marota is that in a marota you throw in the direction of the sleeve and in soda you throw in the direction of the lapel. Usually you do marota to your strong side and soda from the same grip you do to the other side. That way you can enter two sides from the same grip. If I'm right-handed, for example, then I do a marota to the right and soda to the left.
Will you make a video on the All Japan open weight competition?
3:14 i swear lombardo is such a beast how hasn’t he won the worlds yet
I have a simple solution. Make leg grabs a wazari. I’m not sure what the argument is to remove leg grabs in the first place?
3:35 would be a yagura nage I think
3:35 front uchi mata?
