When people can't afford life's necessities, they can't afford to have children. When I was growing up, most families could get by on a single income. My mother, like most of my friends' mothers, didn’t have to work. My father held a lower-middle-income job, yet he and my mother comfortably raised four children without excessive financial strain.
Back then, homes were built on large blocks of land, and families made the most of their space by growing vegetables, keeping chickens, and preserving food. Many families were resourceful—hunting, fishing, and bartering to make ends meet. Life wasn’t extravagant, but it was stable.
By the 1990s, during my teenage years, everything changed. The cost of living surged, wages stagnated, and single-income households became unsustainable. Suddenly, both parents had to work just to keep up. Families became smaller, not necessarily by choice, but out of financial necessity. The idea of a stay-at-home parent became a luxury, and many struggled to juggle dual careers while raising children. The economic shift reshaped family life, making it harder for the next generation to afford the same opportunities that once seemed standard.
I work for a Pediatrician and many of our families are Christian, 1 income, homeschooled children. The families are large between starting with 1 child up to 11. All fantastic kids
This all started with the Baby Boomers having fewer kids in the 70s, we have to go back, and then there were lots of boomers, but they focus on themselves rather than family growth. That generation is now in the boardrooms of companies pushing the anti children narrative. They've now convinced Gen Y and Z that kids are bad, just because they had plenty of friends of their own age, but the Boomers didn't stay married for long, divorce rates among Boomers were high. The silent generation of elites still alive hated the Boomers, too.
It is extremely unlikely any other person has your best interests at heart.

I hate the globalists and the whole davos crew but I do agree with them in one thing the world is overcrowded. When I was young I used to hunt. Fish and ride dirt bike all over but now there is no open land or Forrest left where I live, it's just houses, stores and warehouses from one end of the state to the other, I would love to see the population decreased by 60% and get rid of immigration and all the federal law enforcement agencies that would be great

A more credible hypothesis, already, is the question of status, especially for women: because when asked ‘what do you do for a living?’, the answer ‘I raise my children’ is never a rewarding one. But it is, above all, time, or the lack of time, the way in which time is experienced in modernity.
What is time made of? It's made up of 4 elements when there's room for only 3 of them, unless you want to be heading towards fundamental dissatisfaction due to a lack of time – a dissatisfaction that can lead to burn-out and the destruction of a personality.
The 4 elements are: 1) Sleep. 2) Work. 3) Family (children). 4) ‘Leisure’ (screens, reading, love, friendships, solitude, playing a musical instrument, personal development, etc.)
Can you do without sleep? Obviously not. Cutting back on sleep is bad for your health. Very. Can you do without work? Yes, if you were born with a silver spoon in your mouth. In other words: no, you can't. That leaves only two adjustment variables.
If you are reasonable, you do what the watchdogs of reasonable living keep telling you: when you reach ‘adulthood’, you behave like an adult and drastically reduce the amount of time you devote to ‘leisure’, particularly screen time. But here's the snag: living an adult life, a reasonable life, is the best way to miss out on life. Life without kids is freer, more peaceful and more prosperous than family life. This has become impossible to hide.

We have 4 two are mine and two Step Daughter's. One of my Step Daughters has 5 the other was not able to have any. So unfair bcs she would have been the best Mother she is in a syrong relationship Mother of 5 isn't.

There's been many things that has added to the population depletion The day that our country got so high priced that it took both parents to take care of the family that's when family started shrinking and then when the woman got out in the work field now you got to play babysitters that don't help either So family is kind of started having a rift in between it I mean the husbands was meeting the wife kissing her goodbye everybody's off to work and so what happens to the family time there is none both parents are coming home tired and they're handed their kid a electronic device or they're turning on the TV and there you go and we are creating a bunch of children that feel like they're entitled to not have to work A lot of kids is give me give me give me thing anyway many factors created the listening of the population but if it continues this country will start to deteriorate because you don't have enough people keeping the economy going and without families a nation will fall and what good is it if we have all these beautiful jobs we don't have anybody that wants to work You have your seniors right now working and some of us are 70 80 years old You have some grandparents that are working to support their 22-year-old grandkids and 35-year-old sons and daughters and that's messed up is sad but it's happening grandparents love their children and they do everything they can to keep a roof over their children's head and their children don't have any dream or vision It's like they're quite content just to sit there and take the hand out I see it all around grandparents just tired and wore out and just doing it because they don't want to have their kids fussing at them kind of weird in it
