Boob armor, missing headgear, and blasé beige. Here’s what can happen when a superhero suit — or a starship uniform …

  1. Screwing around with a well known comic icon can be WRONG without being racist, sexist or anything else…. If you're going to redesign or re-envision DON'T create your own character and leave people with theirs!

If you're going to mess around with a recognised characters canon and look YOU have to be ready to deal with the backlash, if you don't want too, don't do it! If YOU'RE going to pick a fight – EXPECT to receive a few swings. Why should they give up on something that they supported just for YOU to deconstruct and destroy it?

  2. Firefly used Chinese to swear and get it past the overactive censors.

It wasn't no more Chinese than it was a western.

You can tell when people haven't even seen what they're commenting on. Firefly was about a dystopian dichotomy of ideology and lifestyle. Those on the rim or outer planets, that we saw because it took place on the rum were the outcasts, the non-conformists.

Now if the ideology, government, culture and conformity included this Chinese influence as you have pointed out, why would they be in the outer planets with the non-conformists?

  3. There was nothing feminine about the 10th generation doctor's clothes. Which was the point, I believe, of the outfit. Plus, if that was truly a reason it was way off base for the fandom. There were plenty of strong females in Who before. Nobody cared. It is just a excuse to cover bad writing.

  4. The levels of sexism is incredible. Dianna Troi wore the skant in the pilot because that was a unisex uniform just like the trousers one. How is it weirdness when even throughout the first series of TNG you got men wearing it too! How is it not 'revealing' and 'go-go girl' like when the men wear it?

  5. If you can't see they made Starfire into a hooker, you're the problem. Also, Starfire is ORANGE. She's not white, she's not black, she is Orange. The racists are the people saying she has to be a real world American minority of some sort. She's a ORANGE alien.

  6. The problem is that videos like this only contribute to perceived issues among the fandom. This is really just a counter-troll effort, and the fact is, it's wrong on some of the highlighted costumes.

  7. Yeah I'm sooo tired of redos into a black character . Nick Fury was NEVER BLACK . He was an old WWII sgt with a squad . Why don't we see Black Panther redone into a WHITE CHARACTER ? Huh ?

  8. As older generations say "If you got nothing good to say, then say nothing at all"…. that really applies in this case… Dont be a hateful person who hides their bigotry, racism, and self loathing in a form of virtue signaling and white knighting.

  9. Davies… "… giving bigots ammo…" That guy is so "F"ing out of touch from the fan base, he pretty much destroyed Dr. Who. No one would have cared if Jodie regened into Dave with her clothes on. DUH!!! The body regenerates, not the clothes… that just shows how out of touch he is, thinking that the Who fan base are a bunch oi simpletons that wouldn't understand something that basic. And the fact that he would play the "bigot" and "homophobe" card is just so sleazy. He is just straight up projecting, Davies is the bigot/homophobe… progressives usually are.

  10. That's literally just what Bo Katan looks like in clone wars. As far as "boob armor" goes this was pretty tame as it was just fitted to the actress. Besides making armor in the shape of a woman's boobs doesn't make it weaker automatically, it's still reinforced metal.

  11. Starlight's costume is very revealing I admit. But that's the idea, it's supposed to reflect how young female celebrities are being sexualized in today's society.

  12. Just an FYI, the "iconic mini-skirts worn in Star Trek" were not horny old Gene Roddenberry's idea. Grace Lee Whitney requested a mini-skirt and successfully pitched the idea to the cautious conservative prude producers to let her show off her toned dancer legs. Nichelle Nicols enthusiastically agreed because she also wanted to show off her toned dancer legs.
Some sources claim that while it was obvious Gene liked seeing actresses in mini-skirts, he also initially resisted the idea. Because he didn't want to risk losing the entire show (offending one of the all mighty network executives) over something so edgy.

  13. You have to ask who is this being made for instead tof the message you want to send cause I can tell you in all honesy, no one cares. it's marketed to those that would pay for it and the kids mostly young boys that wont care about a characrtere but if you toss it in skin tight lycra then ticket sales explode. Want an example, look at how she hulk crashed. look at batgirl, the movie never even took off of the ground. BOth characters know for theri looks but auguably the best role cat women was covered by actors that want to look like her. Another fail of a video and to be blunt most came heer to see those costumes rather then the opinions of the maker.

  14. One or two poitns were on point, like the chick form the Boys whom was being portrayed in a more effeminate light because the PR team of Voight were asshats…But Bo Katan wasnt being sexualized just because she wanted to have custom fitting armor that allowed for more ease of movement and overall comfort. Diana Troi was a wonderful character that brought a much needed femieninity and delicate touch to the sterile and often cold sentimentality of Picard and the others of their future time period, so I never had issue with her outfits as she was from a species that was intune with and comfy in their own skin and expressed it well enough without being imodest. As for Starfire, shes from an alien race that is far more comfortable in their own skin and flaunts it unashamedly, so we cant hold her to the standards of humanity. AS for the live action version fo Starfire, regardless of what race she was, the clothes she was put in for the show were clearly offputting and an odd choice by the creators to say the least. This video would have made more sense if we were given context as to "WHOM" exactly was crying out about all these supposed controversies in the first place. IF it was certain celebs or activists that are more hyperbolic and loud about their opinions, then it would make more sense why these characters were being so overly scrutinized.
