Magnificent horse. Triple crown winner. Loved the movie of Secretariat with Diane Lane and all cast members. Great movie & wish YouTube would post this full movie soon. ❤❤😊😊
Sham, in almost any other year, would have been a Triple Crown contender. Secretariat was just a freak of nature! Secretariat broke the Derby record, and Sham ran the second fastest Derby of all time! Only three horses have ever run the Derby under two minutes, and 2 of them were in this race!!
Makes me ill to see Ronnie Turcotte whip Secretariat — I count 3x — coming into the stretch. Partially because Turcotte claimed so many times that he had never once whipped him.
The greatest ever… no one will ever be better than him. We all love him…rip…. God bless you..
It’s been 50 years and there still hasn’t been another one….
Beautiful horse
My favorite athlete
Greatest horse ever
I wish I was born at that time to see this legendary horse win
For those who doubt how good he was, just go through the races lineup of great horses running this race
It is almost like Secretariat was toying with the field
Juiced
Look, I could pick at Pincay for moving Sham up too fast w/Shecky Green, tiring him for a possible stretch run but ultimately for three Saturday’s in May/June of 1973, Big Red was the finest racehorse ever bred. Ron Turcotte, who many experts felt was not the jock who could bring out the best in Secretariat ended up being the perfect rider.
Magnificent!
Secretariat what an amazing horse what a champion
This is Gorgeous!!!!!!!
Secretariat was way over worked.
sham was the 2nd fastest horse that day
It's a shame the timers went by fifths of a second and not one hundredths of a second in 1973.
Secrétariat speed record 71,90 KL/H
❤
Secretariat was gifted with the X Factor which is an enlarged heart😮
Average weight of a horse's heart is 7 to 10 lb, Secretariat's was measured postmortem at over 26 lb🤯
How did Secretariat set the record ?……every quarter was faster than the previous quarter that's unheard of , never been done before😊😮
Big Red….!
The GOAT!
Best to ever Race!
Summer of Secretarit
I'm not even a fan of horse racing but this horse was something special.
Love that movie ❤
"Hello world. I'm Big Red. You like that? Wait'll you see what I do at Belmont Park in a few weeks time."
❤❤❤
He was just reaching his full stride by the end.
In a lot of ways, I remind myself of secretariat. I don’t mean that to sound Braggadocious, but things just come so easily to me.
Watch the movie “Secretariat” it is incredible, the back story to his success!!! Diane Lane is amazing in it!
The 70's 😅
I cry everytime I see him race😍 Just amazing and incredibly special🔥🔥
Seabiscuit is my fav horse ever. The PBS documentary on him I thought was more incredible than the movie. One of those, the true story is better than the stuff made up things. That said, Secretariat is my absolute second fav…
It’s hard to believe that Northen Dancer’s previous record was only three fifths of one second slower. He was such a small horse compared to Big Red. Most derby winners were bred thru his line.
I saw his Nixon commercial
Super Performance:))
Sham was wonderful in his own right. The problem Sham had was he raced with greater I'm afraid. Secretariat
I always love watching secretariat
last to first
He really blew away the field in the stretch. The race would look a lot different without Sham's game efforts to keep pace.
Who is #5
This horse was so magnificent. I remember the fervor surrounding Secretariat.
Whenever I need to be uplifted I find Secretariat, and it works every time. ❤
One fifty nine and two fifths….flying
SECRETARAIT is and always will be the greatest athlete !!!
It didn't look like the jockey didn't need to use the whip- Secretariat wanted it.
