Everett mother charged with gruesome murder of 4-year-old son pleads not guilty
An Everett mother accused of killing her 4-year-old son and leaving his body on the side of Interstate 5 in Pierce County last month pled not guilty to charges in Snohomish County Superior Court Monday afternoon.
Janet Garcia, 27, was charged Friday with first-degree murder and domestic violence with a deadly weapon, with aggravating factors of domestic violence and vulnerable victim.
According to court filings, investigators believe Janet Garcia stabbed her 4-year-old son, Ariel Garcia, “up to 41 times” in a gruesome attack inside an apartment on Vesper Drive in Everett on March 27.
Investigators allege the boy’s death may have stemmed from a custody dispute between Janet Garcia and her mother, who petitioned on March 25 to obtain guardianship of Ariel Garcia.
Janet Garcia’s trial is scheduled to begin on June 7.

She does not act normal. She constantly contradicts herself and I'm telling you something is not right with her mentally It's almost like she's on drugs all the time like super doped up but this is also something I see in people with psychosis. They act like they're on many psychiatric drugs even if they're not on any it is frightening because yes they do and can hurt other people and themselves when they're like this.
She's very dangerous and she should not even have a bond because she is not well mentally
She needs mental health evaluation she is not well. I don't know what's wrong with her but she presents like somebody with psychosis and DID. That doesn't make it okay of course but it's an explanation because something is wrong. Something is wrong with her brain she just does not act normal. Even her mom said that she needed psychiatric care and so did the people at the rehab and everything else is that something was very off. And if you see her video where she was confronted by police she just was so out of it. Almost like if somebody was on drugs and mentally ill. She just behaves like people I've known that are in psychosis. They are just disconnected from reality
